fierce crows warned us
when there isn’t more than paper thin sensations or gut feelings
when time and space melt down in the same pot of worn copper
when you find yourself so dumb you couldn’t fess you’re worth living on
the crows glow grey and green in a scarf of velvet
and from the velvet scarf gleams his Gladius sword from which they’ve succeeded in
on a bold dyed dawn with weeping lilies
crowing from the feast
they’ll come straight upon your head
split your desperate skull in half
and in a rain of magenta flakes
peck the worms til your neck
then the crows will burn and the lilies will fade
and your stirred heart will comb the trade
of a dull thrall for a graceful shriek
